Stone is our favorite material to work with, and it shows. Brock Custom Stone Masonry builds and repairs natural stone throughout Chattanooga and the surrounding 25 miles. Walls, veneer, steps, columns, chimneys, fireplaces, borders. If it is set in mortar, we build it and we fix it.
Stone is unforgiving work. Every piece has to be chosen, shaped and seated so the wall carries load correctly and the joints read as one piece instead of a patchwork. That is the difference between a stone wall that lasts a generation and one that starts shedding face stone in five years.

Age, weather, water pressure behind a wall and normal settling all pull stonework apart. Mortar crumbles out of the joints, stones loosen, and sections bulge or drop. We repoint joints with mortar matched to the original in color and aggregate, reset displaced stone, and rebuild failed sections so the repair does not stand out from the rest of the wall.
We have worked on old and deteriorating structures around Chattanooga, including the National Cemetery. Matching historic material is a large part of what we do.
